Research Projects

I am using the case of investment in fine art to examine topics including complicated market structures and processes, exchange, valuation and the history of art valuation models. Other work relates to organization theory and strategy, including innovation, categories and legitimacy.

Current Projects and Interests:
  • Valuation
  • Price indexes
  • Categorical legitimacy
  • Museum accounting
  • Rules of the art market and art investment
  • Knowledge objects and market coordination
  • Diffusion of innovation
  • Industry development
  • Nonprofit management, philanthropy and foundations
Note: PhD and research master's students do not have to be working in one of these areas for me to supervise. I have diverse interests, and sociologists are trained to work in various subfields. Come and have a chat, and we'll see whether we have mutual interests.
